One day Jerusalem to Petra trip: turn key
Interested in one day trip from Jerusalem to Petra, have only 7 nights in Israel, wish to get this in even if only two to three hours, it will be cheaper than doing a trip exclusively to Jordan one year later. Anyone with experience with any tour operators. Turnkey and air flight preferrable.

Even if flying and dependent on schedules, out of TLV (not out of JER) the airport in Jordan is in Amman. You then have a drive south, preferrably having private a/c car and driver meeting you (at least 3/hrs) to Petra, need a good 3-4/hrs at the site, then drive back to Amman for flight returning to Isreal.
Unless once in Israel there is some private charters going direct to Petra and which will cost a fortune (you still have to stop in Amman for immigration), I'd suggest you allow yourself minimum 2/days or save for a longer visit to Jordan.... a fascinating country.
There's just so much you can fit into a 7/day on-the-ground visit! And, visiting two countries is difficult!

Look into an overnight trip to Eilat. Petra is driveable from Eilat in under 2.5 hours, and there are many organized tours going from there. You leave early in the a.m.and are back in time for dinner. And if you stay overnight in a nice beachfront hotel, you'll be on the Red Sea.

I recommend getting in touch with Desert Eco tours. They run regular day trips from Eilat but also can do customized tours. As already said, it would be a very long day and I would recommend at least one night in Eilat.
