Nomadic Expeditions Morocco

Has anyone heard of or used Nomadic Expeditions for a trip to Morocco?

http://www.nomadic-tours.com/uk/default.aspx

My husband and I are planning a trip in September, and were interested in a small group trip. I came across this tour group on another website but cannot find any reviews. I keep stumbling upon reviews for similarly named groups, but none have actually been the one above.

There are dozens to choose from but haven't heard of these. Your-morocco-tour.com have an American lady boss which gives some degree of confidence perhaps?

I had a quick look at Nomadic Tours when I saw your similar post on another forum, they seem well established, sound finances (I looked at their accounts on Companies House) and a secondary arm specialising in school trips.

But there's literally hundreds of tour companies out there and I don't see any advantage in using an English company other than the ease of communication.

If this is your priority, look at Desert Majesty which is run by Felicity Greenlaw-Weber and is based in Ouarzazate. Impressive reviews and the tour prices are quoted on the website: http://www.desertmajesty.com/testimonials.html

Disclaimer: I invariably have my own wheels when in Morocco (normally motorbike) so I have never actually taken a tour with Desert Majesty or any other company. If you have the time and inclination to do your own basic research and the confidence in driving and navigating in Morocco then IMO the best solution is self drive. But this doesn't suit everyone.

don't know your age group but this company seems to be marketing to young adventure seeking travelers...if that is not your niche you may want to rule this one out.

Yea, I think we are going to either go with another company or just travel on our own. I think the age group will be an issue, and I don't like that I cannot find any reviews. Thanks, all!

Thanks Tim for the research. Just quietly, experiences with locals running enterprises (e.g. rental cars ) leads one to hope there will be better organisation with European-run ones, especially if there are complaints.... Unfair? Possibly.

"this company seems to be marketing to young adventure seeking travelers..."
On a private tour this shouldn't matter so much, as client decides route etc.
Having good communications with both companies and yet to decide -no pressure there.

It's actually quite rare for people to be unhappy with upmarket custom tours. The countryside is incredibly beautiful, the weather is typically wall-to-wall sunshine, people are enchanted with the culture, many visitors rave about local bread and tagines, most hotels are quite decent and the prices are OK.

There's a (now very rich) guy in Ouarzazate who has imported 400+ Toyota Landcruisers and offers these out on a full-servicing basis to tour operators throughout Morocco, so the vehicles tend to be in good condition.

The local tour operators have to hire some friendly drivers with language skills. And then have back office staff who liaise with the clients, agree routes and make the hotel reservations.
