Suspension of credit cards in Zim
Carry cash in either US$ or Rand

All travelers to Zimbabwe are advised that no payments can by made by credit card at all. The banks have suspended all credit card transactions until they can introduce new systems, as their equipment is no longer able to handle the billions of local currency involved in even the smallest of transactions.

travelers must carry cash on them in either U$ or Rand, and in small denominations as places are unable to give change in foreign currency.

We probably will change our Aug. reservations from Vic Falls to Livingston because of all the strife.
My heart breaks for these people!

This is not a recent change. When we were in Victoria Falls last autumn the credit card situation was the same - all payments by cash only.
