Need some help on choosing between Zambia in May or Botswana in April
I'd love to get some expert advice to help me choose between the following two itineraries:
Botswana:
April 25th: Duba Plains (3 nights)
April 28th: Chobe Safari Lodge (3 nights)
Zambia:
May 16th: Chiawa Camp (3 nights)
May 19th: Old Mondoro (3 nights)
Any opinions on which you would choose given the time of year?
Would the game viewing in Botswana in April be far better than Zambia in May?
Any modifications I should make?
We'll be heading to Namibia after this, for six nights there as well.
Thanks,
Rod

I haven't been to Botswana or Zambia in April, but in June game viewing was better in Botswana than in Zambia. I stayed at 3 Wilderness camps, including Duba Plains and two camps in Zambia (Robin Pope). We were a little disappoint that we didn't see a buffalo/lion interaction at Duba, despite the fact that we were there for three nights. Apparently the lions had made a kill the day before we got there and the buffalo had split into two groups going to a area that we couldn't access because of the water.

Both are decent seasons for game viewing, there is no longer a significant migration in southern Africa, which means that the game that you will encounter at either destination is pretty much there year round.
I would stay at either Old Monodoro or Chiawa and if I were going o drop into another camp I would go to an entirely different reserve to jsutify packing up. try the SL or NLV, not many camps open in May but there are a few.
