Zambia or Botswana or Sabi

I'm arranging a trip to Southern Africa in February. Have been to Sabi but not Botswana or Zambia. How do the three compare in terms of wildlife and scenary ? Advice gratefully received !

Wow: That has got to be the most challenging question to answer.

Geographically, the countries of Botswana and Zambia are diverese and quite different. The Flora and Fauna varies widely too. These two factors determine the diversity of wildlife that you are likely to see and naturally each habitat supports its own myriad endemic species.

You really should do additional research to understand which countries you will visit. If you have done Sabi, it seems senseless to return if you are considering either of the other two countries.

Since you are thinking of Feb, I would urge you to go to Botswana as it is in general a lot more accessible at that time of year than Zambia. Zambia will be in the midst of it's wet season making most of it's game viewing areas rather wet, which limits your ability to get around etc.

Now if you have a healthy budget and can do all three, Lower Zambezi, okavango delta, and Sabi sands will be the combination i recommend. If you are adventurous and would like to break the mould of endless luxury, hop on an overland through Botswana to the Khalahri....

Cannot comment on Sabi, but can compare Zambia and Botswana. Much of Botswana has good game and is accessible year round, including February. In Zambia some of the camps are closed in Februrary and it is not the best time of year for wildlife.

Many thanks - now ruling out Zambia because of the time of year. Probably leaning towards Botswana as I understand that there could be some good deals available at that time of year.

i beg to differ on Zambia in Feb I was there 2 years ago in the wet season ans the game and birds and photography was as good as I have ever seen it in the dry season....granted there were less roads to use but use a camp that has boats and its solved.
And no dust, lots of wilddogs too!
