Who said anything about disturbing the wildlife? As you may have read, I have a lens that is the equivalent of 896mm, or about 35 feet. We were not even in the tree that housed the nest.
And as for the guide, he is one of the most experienced guides in Botswana and in fact, leads the annual training sessions. My point being he was very sensitive to the birds nest and its parents.
And how is climbing a tree and looking at a nest any different from riding in a Land Rover all over the bush to look at animals?
And from just a personal point of view...you sound like a real uptight douche bag.

Great pics - spent ages trying to figure out the Flycatcher. To be fair to Pat you did say that you climbed the tree and so I could see how she would get upset. Also driving in the landrover would be very different than climbing the tree, I think most of us who travel to Africa regularly appreciate that. But kudos on a great series of pictures. You should go to Mala Mala for Leopard, in six trips I have seen 4 male leopards, some on numerous occasions.

Oh my, we have controversy on the squeaky-clean Fodors board!
I agree that climbing trees where birds are nesting and similar actions are just not cool. What if we all start to do silly things to get bragging rights for our safari pictures?
Maybe this safari trip report with its over-the-top superlatives are getting a bit too much.
It may be a good idea if Fodors create a separate area for trip reports. The forums work best for Q&A's.

If you don't like my trip report, please do not ready it. Better yet, do not reply to it. Let me guess, you did not like my trip report yet you looked at my pictures? Loser.
I apologize for my superlative-filled report on my trip. So sorry I enjoyed myself so much. I didnt know there was a BORING standard for trip reports. Nor did I know that forums were only for Q&A.
I searched for a way to delete my post, but to no avail. At least I can protect my pictures. What was I ever thinking sharing my wonderful experience (honeymoon) with strangers? Thanks to a couple of cranky ol pussies, I am done with this board. Your loss.

Quite the opposite actually!
Your pictures and your positive tone are certainly good for the areas you visited.
I learned about the places you went and you learned to be a more responsible wildlife photographer!
Now we need to work on your language!
Thank you for the trip report and I will leave this thread too. Good night!

climbhighsleeplow,
I wouldn't say that this board is necessarily "squeaky-clean", but for the most part, we are all mostly mature to treat other Fodorites with a certain degree of respect most of the time.
It is unfortunate that the author of the original thread is so thin-skinned that he cannot take a little criticism before throwing a nasty little profanity laced tantrum. Perhaps Mommy needs to take him into the loo to wash out his mouth with soap!

hey kavey,
i think the author took his photos down after he had a spat on the above posts. if really unfortunate bc his photos were some of the best i've seen. but not to worry, i heading to mombo in less than a month and hopefully i'll come back with equally as good. hehe. i dont think so, but you never know.
