The Serena and Sopa lodges I've visited all had mosquito netting set up around the beds (except Ngorongoro, where it's too high and cold for mossies).
I'm guessing Kirawira also has nets if it's in a mossie area.
I would leave the net behind ...

There's no reason to be bringing your own mossie nets. You're staying at lodges that have nets (usually more as a decorative item) and as Bill mentioned, Ngorongoro is too high - no mossies. Kirawira has nets (which we never closed).
I'd return your purchase to REI.

Zania, I wouldn't go overboard on the bug sprays either ... it seems like we brought pints of this stuff on our first trip, with high levels of DEET, but the Serenas had free packets of bug dope in the rooms which worked better than anything we brought and was easier to use (not as irritating to the skin). You can ask the room attendant for some extras (a nice tip will do the trick).
Surprisingly enough the bug dope they provide was only 15% DEET (we brought stuff with much higher concentrations) yet it worked better than what we brought.

Zania - and how much of that refund do you send to me
Now you have money to spend on souvenirs.
Believe me, if you were "really camping out" I'd be the first to suggest mossie nets, but it's not necessary for a lodge (and most tent camp) itineraries, which provide their own. And, I'm with Bill... go easy on the bug juice. One bottle of whatever should be more than enough for personal use, or use what the lodges provide. This way you can save the bottle you buy at REI for the flying things in your backyard!
Happy bug/mossie free travels!
