I really wondered whether it would be wise to start that thread, because some of you cannot seem be civil or decent with each other. The thread is gone, I clicked on my name and it doesn't come up. I really thought that the information on it, in a small way, was useful, but because of some people, it has been pulled, and I am d@%*m mad! Do you talk to people in person the same way you are rude to folks on the internet?
Just let it go - take a deep breath if you see something you don't like, and go take a walk. This is an internet forum for goodness' sake, compared to your family, or your job, how important is it? So, if you see something you disagree with, go give your kids a hug, or your partner or your dog, and stop calling names, and accusing people and pointing fingers.
There are so many helpful, nice people, like Lynn, and Sandi and Hari here - what's wrong with the rest of you?

my questions are directed at everyone who seems to use posts to point fingers, and unnecessarily be aggressive and accusatory towards others - you do it, snik, as do others. It doesn't seem to me to be in the spirit of this forum.

Momliz,
I take it that you include others like Shumba, who merely point out facts, in your description.
It seems that everyone who disagrees with a certain faction over the constant self promotion and smugness should be labelled as agressive, negative or even childish.I can see no reason for this thread to be taken down, perhaps this could be explained?

Gee I'm a nice guy too
I enjoy reading everyone's comments, even those that get a little hot under the collar at times!!!
When I think of Bill_H , I think of those great pictures he posted of his trips to Kenya and Tazania.
Then there is atravelynn... she does great posting advice on many of the other Fodor forum sites.!
And of course who can forget Sandi(sandi) !
and the excellent advice she gives out always.
then there is:
HariS
whiskey
Kavey
and many others.......see I do read all your comments.
Good Night
Percy

It might be helpful if Katie or one of the other editors could give some guidance about what is or isn't permissible. While it's the posters who provide the input and value to this forum, it's Fodor's who provides us the meeting place and who sets the rules. I'm not really sure where the "Advertising..." thread crossed the line -- was it identifying certain posters by [real] name, was it associating user IDs with agent web sites, was it something else?

Hi rizzuto--we believe the thread contained postings by members registered under more than one name. In the past, threads of this nature have quickly spun out of control with accusations. If anyone feels that someone is advertising their services on the forums, they can write to us at [email protected] so that we can look into it more closely.

Thanks Hari, but I actually wasn't trying to be funny. I certainly don't miss the blatantly self-promotional porn star (very good, pixelpower--and thanks to rizzuto because that post seemed to be the one that finally got him to leave) but Julian was actually helpful and his trip reports entertaining and useful.

You're right Hari. I did think it was kind of incredible that a smart guy like Julian could get mixed up with such an obvious yahoo. That's the thing about advertising and this forum. The obvious touts (see Egypt!) are easy to spot. The subtle and smart ones are more difficult...
