Mid-June Botswana
I am in the process of putting together a trip for the last two weeks of June. After reading on several forms the anticipated flood levels of 2011, I am at a lose. It seems most reviews in the past will be irrevelant due to the considerably high waters. The last two weeks of June are the only weeks I can go so I don't have the choice of being flexible.
Here is what I am looking for. First, I would like to spend a total of 9 nights at 3 different camps. Predators are a high priority. I would like to go on a mokoro ride or two but no more. Luxury camps are not a priority (if they happen have good game viewing that's just a plus) but high quality wildlife sightings are. I would like one camp to give me a good representation of the Okavango. Price is not an object minus Mombo & Chief's Camp.
Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mason.

Botswana is an amazing country and I don't want to discourage you from going, but if you are concerned the floods are going to be high again this year, why don't you go to S Africa? Sabi Sand and Timbavati around Kruger and Kruger itself are great safari destinations. Two years ago I went to Mashatu in the Tuli Circle in SE Botswana and highly recommend it, too.
Others might have a better idea of what to expect with high water levels. Considering the high premium to visit Botswana, I would go next time. We will be in S Africa in June, too. I hope it's not as cold as the last two years!

I had a wonderful 2 weeks in South Africa the end of June, if you decide to go there, as Christabir and Skimmer suggest. And as I recall, it's not high season then. I spent 4 nts in Sabi Sands and a week at Phinda, all South Africa.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I actually did South Africa 4 years ago and then Tanzania the year before last. Needless to say I am looking to go somewhere different and have already made air reservations. Looks like I probably jumped the gun but thought Bots would be good in June.
If anyone has specific camp recommendations considering the time of year and potential for high waters I would be very appreciative. Thanks again.
