We were there the last two weeks of January 2008. Cairo was quite cool (a bit unseasonably so) but VERY comfortable for traveling. By the time we got to Luxor it was about 26C and people were swimming in the hotel pool - it was really ideal weather and the crowds were thin.

(we went on to Jordan - where it snowed!)

I am planning a package tour to Egypt and the Nile Cruise is included. I am looking at Viking River cruises as an operator and they are booking the Royal Lotus is in the Nile and the Prince Abbas on Lake Nassar. Does anyone have any experience with the company Viking and/or those ships?
