Now I'm wondering if I really needed to buy the extra seat at all. Oh well, I'm not going to stress out about it. I'll post an update after the trip and let y'all know how it went.

Have a marvelous time (you will) and don't stress about anything. It's been over a year since our trip and I sure would love to plan an other! Until then I'll just go along vicariously through trip reports here

I saw that info regarding personal weight in the Wilderness brochure and I was somewhat concerned about it, but fortunately, I was on a diet and we were not over the weight limit regardless. I will say that I think that the numbers in question however, are KILOS, not pounds. 1 Kilo is 1.2 pounds, so that gives more wiggle room there.
All of that said, when we went with Sefofane in May, 2005, they weighed our bags that they put UNDER the plane, but not our hand luggage and they NEVER weighed us. Also, the bags were weighed the first time and there was a tag on them with the supposed weight, but of course, we put more stuff in the bags after that!
Enjoy your trip!

I realize Dlemma has already left for Africa, but just wanted to add my 2 cents. I returned from Africa 2 weeks ago and we used Sefofane for 5 hops between camps and Vic Falls. We were also with Wilderness Safaris. No mention was ever made, before or during the trip, about how much we could weigh! I can't imagine that being an issue except for the most morbidly obese, who could understandably throw off the weight distribution on such a small plane. We weren't weighed. Our weight was never mentioned. We had a couple in our group that I'm sure weighed a fair amount more than 390 pounds between them and they used the 5-passenger planes several times. The only reference to weight was where the lightest and heaviest of the passengers were seated. We usually only had 4 on the 5-passenger planes. I think these people paid extra for a third seat unnecessarily. What a shame!
