Kenya is awesome!
Hello all!
First chance we have had to post from Africa - we spent 10 days in TZ, had a wonderful time and will report more thoroughly upon our return to the states. Most importantly, we are in Kenya, and have had absolutely no problems or worries. We have flown from Wilson to the Mara, two nights at Olanana, then drove yesterday to Saruni. We fly out tomorrow for CYK.
Sadly, Kenya is almost empty of tourists, and the economy is suffering, which means many people here are out of work. Saruni and Olanana were nearly empty. We have only seen two other cars in the Mara in three days. Even Tanzania is seeing a lack of visitors. The Serena at the Crater was half full the two nights we were there.
We have learned there are talks going on in Nairobi, and there are still isolated incidents occuring in the western towns. Hopefully the leadership can come to an agreement of peace.
We are adoring Kenya, can't wait to spend two days in Nairobi with Kennedy, as well as seeing CYK and Ndolwa in Tsavo.
I don't have a chance to read any other threads. Hopefully people will continue to plan their trips to this amazing country. Thank you, Fodorites! You helped make this trip very special for us.
