Jordan vacation

We have had a 10 day family trip to Jordan planned for over six months. We plan to go to Amman, Petra, etc. Due to the situation in the middle east now, should we postpone our trip?

Nah, Jordan is a very safe area in a volatile neighborhood. I felt safer in Jordan during my visit there than I do in some parts of cities in the industrialized world. Go and have a great time.

I might go, but I am not a "family". However, you should read the travel advisories on the US, UK, and Australian State Dept/Foreign Office web sites and make up your own mind. At the very least, the country is hosting a lot of Syrian refugees right now. Petra is magical, Amman not so much.

Even the refugee camps are way over in the far north-east of Jordan, nowhere visitors would be traveling/sightseeing. Unfortunately, the country itself is not located in a good overall neighborhood, but sure wouldn't stop me from visiting. You'll only be stopping in areas a bit north of Amman (located mid-country), Amman, then south towards Petra and surrounds.
