Jambo from Kenya!
Just thought I would take advantage of bush internet and post a hello from the Mara! Trip has been fantastic! Best weather we have ever had in Africa too. 3 days at Lewa, 3 days at Saruni Samburu behind us and 4 to go at Bateleur. Babies everywhere. Had a great dinner and game drive with Sandi at Lewa. It was a nice treat to meet a Fodorite.
I have been adding some posts to my blog for those interested in some of the sights...

cheers and thanks again to all who helped me sort this out.

The Samburu people are remarkably hopeful about Kalama. The flood was a disaster and they told us if it had come at night there would have been tragic results instead of the 19 deaths they suffered. They have lost 90% of their livestock and are having a very hard time. We had a really good visit in their community and visited their school, which they are very proud of. Wonderful people.
Popped some lazy hippos up on the blog today and saw 7 hyena pups last night-adorable. We had never seen hyena pups and they were so curious. Going back tonight...
cheers

Well I must say I am thrilled tomorrow morning I am not getting up at 5:30! But not so thrilled we are now in Nairobi and no more wildlife-accept the guy across the hall...
Had a fabulous encounter with about 20 hippos at sunset yesterday and they treated us to a serenade and some terrific yawns. Some pics going up soon. ALso had a lot of fun tracking down the blue and copper tail monkeys in Kitchwa Tembo/Bateleur camps. (put some pics up tonight) They were hard to catch in the thick canopy but were amusing to watch as they made their way to the common area for tea time. The Mara was rough going and my osteopath will make some serious coin re-aligning my neck and spine back home.
THanks for the nice comments on the photos...will be adding lots in the coming weeks.
Lala salama.
