Sound and Light.....or not?

Which Sound and Light Show should we see, Giza or Luxor? Or should we give it a miss entirely?

Don't know for Giza or Luxor. We have seen the one at Philae and there was much sound (mostly from too many crowds) but very little light! It was absolutely not worth the money.
Maybe someone else knows more about Giza & Luxor.

I asked the same question not that long ago! We saw the shows at Luxor and Philae. Out of about 10 of us I was the only one who enjoyed the Luxor show. Generally, everyone thought the Philae show was better but not worth the money. Both the Luxor and Philae shows have you walking through the site for part of the show. I was glad I brought a small flashlight for these shows--nice to have but not essential. Based on reviews posted by others here I didn't go to the Giza show--reviews from the members of our group who went to the Giza show was that it was the best of the 3. We were part of an OAT tour group.

They're both cheesy, but fun. As between the two, I preferred the Giza show.

Loved the Giza show. Haven't been to the one in Luxor yet.

Thanks for the quick replies! Could you give me some idea of the cost of these shows? And kp, thanks for the tip about taking a flashlight...it's already in the suitcase.

well as a tour guide over egypt so from what i have seen that the show in Giza was more prefered by many ....
and when it comes to the cost of the Giza show if you are paying your own tickets not with a travel agency so you'll have to be there before the show starts at least half an hour before and it costs 66 egy pounds per person = about 12 usd..

i thought the light show at Karnak (Luxor) was cheesy and NOT in an amusing way. while it was interesting to see karnak at night all lit up, the show was not very entertaining and not worth the money.

Well as an Egyptian who has been to both Sound & Light shows (the Giza Pyramids and the Luxor one)... I tend to find the Pyramids one better... it is not the Aida Opera, but something you should experience once.
