sniktawk, most threads, if they receive enough traffic, eventually wander to and from the original topic -- its the nature of the beast. There's only so much that can be said to answer your original question (which I expect you asked to counterbalance another thread in which I read some Etosha-bashing). There are some who will never go on a self-drive and will only stay at Ongava if they visit Etosha (I also stayed at Ongava and I found it a lot less appealing than Okakuejo). There are some who criticize Etosha, and some of those criticisms may be relevant to a certain audience (ie, those who want 5-star lodging). But, I don't think anyone can fairly criticize the game viewing -- certainly wildlife viewing can be hit-or-miss and some can have a bad experience, but I think over the course of the year, most days in Etosha will afford excellent game viewing. As I said, its the park to which I'd most like to return.

Since I was part of the falloff, does that mean you won't be penciling me in for Namibia trip, Sniktawk?

ATR does have some strident remarks in their online info. to the point of being entertaining.

I did not mean to crticise anybody, in fact I think it is great that people are planning to go to Namibia, and even better that they are considering self drive.

For those wanting 5 star lodging NWR maybe answering your prayers, there is a new lodge being built both posts are from Tuckeg, I hope he does not mind me repeating them on this thread.

sniktawk,

Here is another article, it will be north of Namuntoni and visitors will park there and be transported to the new lodge by NWR:
