Sometimes we need the thick skin of a pachyderm to tolerate some of the nonsense, so I hope you'll reconsider. I don't know what thread/posts you are referring to, but I've learned to avoid threads as they devolve into nonsense/personal attacks/bickering.

I assume this is in reference to the thread "How Low can Wilderness Safaris Get?"
I've only been a lurker on this forum since I've just started planning for a trip to Tanzania but wanted to comment based on my experience with internet forums in general.
My feeling is that people who *announce* their intended departure are, well, asking to be talked out of it. It's sort of like the child who makes an elaborate show of preparing to run away from home...
Unfortunately, I think it's the nature of the beast that a forum thread can take on a "bandwagon" atmosphere -- everyone jumps on and it stops being constructive or informative or even polite. Most of the time, the only way to deal with it is to simply stop responding.
Don't take it personally, sniktawk. Even though a thread here or there goes off the deep end, most threads are constructive and people in general really appreciate the information provided in these forums.

Come on sniktawk !!
please...
i'll go sniff around to "analize" what was so offensive (since i probably missed it)
but
That's just a web forum (where one day i'm a 17 year old blonde prostitute & the next day a 61 year old bald & bearded philosopher...)
& even in real life, after 'labeling' a person offenses are reduced to minimum
aby

I've totally been attacked in one of the US forums for stating I felt like a particular area was unsafe in our city. You wouldn't believe the ridiculous backlash, so much so, that I quit reading the thread and still have never revisited it. I think email tone should be something we're all aware of while enjoying the forums. Assuming those of us traveling share a love of travel, we should make an effort to state opinions and swap information in a way that isn't nasty, especially since we have something in common. I wonder how bold people would be if we were face to face. Anyway, reconsider and let it go for your own sake.

Sniktawk,
I am glad to see youˇ¦ve changed your mind. Thank goodness for diversity (and civility). Many people do not share my safari perspective (including you as I recall-big grin)but if just one person finds value in a posting then it is worth the effort to contribute. Viva la difference and welcome back
