I am going to egypt with OAT in 2 weeks and never booked the optional abu simbel tour. OAT will not do it for me now. can someone tell me the best way to see it on my own with a local egypt tour operator. I will be on my own so prefer to book with a group.

Call Egyptair and buy a ticket. They provide round trip bus transit from airport to site and back. There are guides available at the site if you choose to use them.

I use an Egyptian travel agent - their website is www.SeeEgypt.com. It's worth the trip!

I just got back from a trip with OAT to Egypt last month. There was a couple in our group, who hadn't booked Abu Simbel but changed their minds, and wanted to go with us. Our group leader did manger to get them booked with us.So all is not lost.Do tell your guide as soon as you get there. They may will be able to get you a ticket.
