Has anyone booked a trip with Go2Africa.com

Hi all! I'm new to this board and was hoping for a little help. My husband and I are planning a safari to Kenya/Tanzania in Feb 07. I've been in contact with the people at Go2Africa and they seem helpful with good tours, but I wanted to know some first hand info on them if anyone has any. Also any tips for a first time Africa traveller will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Below is a link to a thread discussing Go2Africa.

The correspondence I've had with them has been professional and helpful. I get their newsletter. Never traveled with them.

Here's my best tip--start budgeting for more Africa trips. If you are like the rest of us you'll get hooked and want to return.

You are planning early for this prime time in Tanzania so you have that under control. And you are using this excellent resource early on, so that's another tip you don't need.

Get your innoculations and travel medications in order well before your departure.

When you have an itinerary in mind post again and there will be lots of tips and suggestions.

I booked my upcoming trip thru' Go2africa and have been very pleased with the service. My rep, Janine, responded promptly, thoroughly, to all my questions, and offered helpful suggestions.

My husband and I took a trip with them, Kenya Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru . . . absolutely fabulous, we would not change one thing about the trip.

I recommended it to my boss and she also had a fantastic time . . . she went to Tanzania with them. Then, I recommended them to a good friend and he, too, could not believe the price and service. So, that's 3 out of 3 who are satisfied.

Our guides were super, we saw all the animals (even leopards), and the accommodations were first class.

Hope this helps,
Sandy (in Denton)

Thanks for the responses! I guess I'm just a little nervous to commit to one company. It definately helps to hear that they are reputable.

We plan to travel to Amboseli, Masai Mara, Lake Manyara, Ngoro Crater, Serengeti, and Tarangire. Any suggestions on the best lodges for them? We're not really into roughing it so we thought lodges would be better, but I have heard that some of the tented camps are luxurious too! Also what are your favorite places and are we leaving out something better?

Interesting that this thread should come back to the top at this time. While I previously expressed satisfaction with the way go2Africa handled my trip arrangements - 4 weeks from today to departure - a glitch arose in the last two days which has me very upset and so far has not been handled well at the sales level.
Monday I will go higher and will report back on my progress.

We are also looking at Go2Africa for a moderately priced safari. Are there any lodges they offer that you would NOT recommend. When do suggest as the best time visit Kenya.

Hi Hopeful,
It hasn't quite been resolved yet, altho' I'm happy to report that I did get some satisfaction and I've been in cordial discussions with them since my last post. My rep has been away but I've been speaking to one of her colleagues who has called me a couple of times.
Bottom line is that I'm losing a day and a half at the Skeleton Coast because of an apparent scheduling error, which was exacerbated by a subsequent change in departure time, Windhoek/Maun, by Air Botswana.
They have offered me a price adjustment but we agreed to defer settlement until after I return. I'll decide after the trip whether I think the offer is reasonable. I'll be back on June 9 and will update when it's been resolved.
Good luck with your plans.

I have booked a trip with go2africa for the first time. My husband and I will be leaving the U.S. on June 12. This is my only experience with them but my contact there, Dee, has been quite helpful.

I have looked at the go2africa site, but am not clear as to whether they provide guides, and what else in addition to accommodations, travel, and transfers. Info, please.

Hi there, We're going the same month (3 of us) and after researching and emailing numerous safari operators, we're down to Tanzania Adventure and Good Earth Tours. Good Earth is giving us the exact same itinerary as TA, but it's 1500.00less. Look at Tripadvisor.com, tanzania and read what has been posted there as well as on Fodor. Might help.

Final update on my problem with Go2Africa, in a (large) nutshell.

As I mentioned previously, because of a scheduling error - which they blamed on Wilderness Safaris - I had to leave the Skeleton Coast a day and a half early on my "Great Namibian Journey" to hook up with "Migration Routes". I don't know who is to blame for the error but it was never told to me until I myself noticed the scheduling conflict just 4 weeks before departure.

After initially saying there would be no adjustment, Go2Africa eventually offered me an adjustment of $250. I felt that amount was too little - all things considered - and we agreed, in writing, to discuss it further after I returned from Africa. However, while I was away, they sent me an email saying they had credited my account in the amount of $250, as if the matter were settled.

I will say that our dealings had been very cordial up to that point and I had been pleased with the service until the problem arose, but I felt it was bad faith to close the matter while I was away when we had agreed to defer resolution until I returned.

I did not contact them further and instead wrote to American Express and updated them. I told them what I believed to be a fair adjustment and they gave me a "goodwill adjustment" for the balance - at their own expense - in addition to the amount credited by Go2Africa.
So I got financial satisfaction from the credit card company and I'm sorry that my dealings with Go2Africa ended up that way.
