Giza Pyramid Area
Hello, I am scheduled to go to Egypt on sept 3 2021, I will be doing 4 days in Cairo 3 in Luxor and a day trip to the Giza Pyramids. I have read many articles and comments from people that besides the Giza Pyramids area there is nothing much to see in Giza. I was thinking of possibly using one night to sleep in a hotel that has views of the pyramids at night. For anyone that has been in the area would you recommend the one night to stay in a hotel close to the pyramids for views at night or just go back to Cairo. After my research, besides the pyramid area there seems nothing much to do in Giza. I am wondering what someone would recommend. I was looking at a tour that does 5 hours in total including transportation for the pyramids. I hear people say that 3 hours time should be max time in the pyramids. I think there is a lot to see and do inside the pyramid area. For those who read this, What would you recommend for what I mentioned

It depends on what you want to do. If you are only visiting the Giza Plateau and plan on spending the rest of your time visiting Cairo, I would stay in Cairo the entire time. There's much more to see, do, and eat. If you are visiting Saqqara, Memphis, and Dahshur, I suppose you could divide your time between Cairo and the Giza Plateau. Even so, we stayed 5 nights in Cairo and preferred not having to move hotels.
For our visit to the Giza Plateau, we spent about 3-4 hours and thought it was sufficient. We went inside the Great Pyramid, saw the other two pyramids and a couple of smaller temples, and took a nice camel ride around the sites. We went early in the morning and wrapped up with lunch at the Mena House overlooking the pyramids, which was very enjoyable. We came back on another evening to see the sound and light show, but I would not go out of your way to do that.

it's like a one-hour car trip from Cairo to Giza, public and private transportation are available, so not worth moving from one hotel to another. Just choose a hotel you like, either in Cairo or in Giza and transport. In Egypt, we don't view or treat them as two different cities.
