"I guess this will be one of many safaris for us. I just dread the 26 hour flight!"
Plan on some movie watching on the way over and photo reviewing on the way back. Or contemplate how you will spend those many safaris to follow.

Forget about the many hours as I've learned anything over 9/hrs becomes painless.... LOL! Last year to DAR I managed an 'award' ticket but via JNB, South Africa and almost fainted as there was no way I wanted to fly so far south (JFK-JNB, 16hrs) to only transfer for a 4.5/hr flight north.
But 'free is free' and as mom didn't raise any fools went with it. Took my seat, had my drink, dinner, read a few pages of my book and then popped a pill and slept the remainder of the flight. Surprisingly, the home-bound flight out of Nairobi via Zurich actually seemed longer...ugh!
Don't think about the flying time. but the amazing experience once you land and time spent.
