Enough time to change planes JNB?

Enough time to change planes JNB?
We arrive JNB at 5:10 p.m. from ATL on Delta and need to connect to CPT on South African Air? There are flights leaving almost every hour. Can we make a 6:40 or should I book toward 8 p.m. Thanks for any advice.

Definitely not book the plane leaving before 07.30pm. You must clear customs in JNB and you should have sufficient time to connect. Not to mention any delay coming from USA.

I personally like to play safe and would book a flight around 08.00pm

As SV, go for the 8pm flight.

Allows for any possible delay arriving JNB. And, of course, Immigration/Customs, collecting bags, getting to Domestic terminal.

Rather have time to spare then rush or miss the CPT flight.

gladtotravel - you can always stand-by for the earlier flight to cape town if you clear customs quickly.
