I really want to go to the thursday market in El-Arish. Dies anyone know if it is safe to go there. If the market still happens and the best way to get there? A hotel to stay at? Any help is appreciated!

I forgot to say that I will be in Cairo. Then Luxor for a week. After that We will be jumping around to where ever the wind takes us, if that helps anyone answer the question

El Arish is safe, I am not sure if it is one of the most exciting places to visit though (taking in consideration the distance).

Do not know about the market.

Easiest way to get there would be by bus.

Thank you Sherif, Reason I ask about the area is I am coming to Egypt on a buying trip and from everything I hear this is a great area to get great handcrafts and help support the community as well.

Currently El Arish is witnessing a large influx of Palestinians.... practicing some freedom after Israel withrdew from the Gaza strip... it is good for the local economy.. but is straining hotels, transportation, infrastructure etc..

I am not coming to Egypt until March. So maybe by then things will have calmed down some. Do you live in Cairo Sherif?
