Thanks for your contribution, Selwyn. Very well written and explained ....... Only speaking about myself - but, visit the forum mainly to read about safaris and to view people's experiences via their photographs.
I would say that you are lucky if you are only seeing a 10% reduction in business. Globally, I'm hearing something like 20 to 30% slow down in various fields ..... so, not bad at all!!!

Mala Mala rates will not increase for 2009 and Mashatu went up $30 but they are extending the Land of the Giants package for 2009, from 10 Jan-30 Jun, pay for 3 nights, stay for 4 at Main Camp or Tent Camp. They are calling you....(and me too!) <

The rates are quoted in $ so they need to stay the same, all their competition got 30% cheaper. I think Rattrays and Singita are now pretty comparable in terms of price.
BTW MM rates did not change for a good five years earlier this decade, which was nice.
