East Africa Trip

Hi. I am planning a trip to East Africa and have looked into several tour operators. I wanted to get some feedback on Born Free Safaris since other postings have given mixed reviews and I wanted to see if anyone has traveled with them recently. Thanks!

hi, enz,

may I suggest that you repost this query, mentioning "Born Free Safaris" in the title?

regards, ann

Hi Enz,
There are couple more tour operators in East Africa you can get some on the list, some do better jobs for their clients.

Hi, Enz642... I am talking to Born Free right now. They've been good on the customer service part so far, trying to meet my budget, phone calls to me and e-mails, etc. I like that they cover all different places in Africa, because that's the kind of trip I want to take.

I'm also talking to Africa Point, who seem promising as well, but I wish they had a contact person in the States.

Good luck to you and your planning. Would be interested to hear more about Born Free Safaris from your experience in dealing with them, or if anyone else would have comments about them. Or Africa Point, too, for that matter.

Forgot to mention that I'm also trying to get a trip plan from Vintage Africa through my local travel agent. They were really responsive to me at first, but lately communication has come to a standstill. I can understand not being given top priority right now, though, as my travel period is not until fall of 2008.

Not that I have any recommendation about Vintage Safaris, but they are a small company and maybe the principals are on safari. It is high season for them.

Thanks for that insight, Luangwablondes... didn't think of that. I think I'm being pretty patient... but in all this wait time to hear from them I keep changing my mind about things, which I'm not sure is good or bad. My local T.A. said she's sent a few folks in my hometown to have safaris with Vintage Africa and they were all pleased.
