Cell Phone In Israel

If we want to have a cell phone in Israel, can we "rent" one there? What is the cost? What should we get & where should we get it? We are starting our vacation in Jeruslaem.

If I'm not mistaken you can rent one at the airport.

If you have a GSM cellphone with 900/1800 band (all non-American ones and tri-band American ones) you can bring it and use it here instead of renting a one.

I used a phone card, there were public phones either in the lobby, or outside very close to the hotels.

There are threads on cell phones in Israel, you can rent in the airport or at any major hotel. You can call or e-mail in advance to your Jerusalem hotel and ask them.

But first of all, if you have a cell phone already, check the website for advices or call the 800 number and ask them how to use your phone in Israel.

I've been renting an Israeli phone every time going to Israel in the past 5 years.

The company is TravelCell, and they rent out phones for MANY countries around the world.

You order the phone here, and get it 2 days before departure, so you have time to learn it, enter frquent numbers into it, and tell your family, friends, or your boss your number you can be reached at while in Israel.

Check their site www.travelcell.com
or call 877-235-5746.
