CCA being sued of their new name

See below link:

http://links.news.ccafrica.co.za/ser...jcgS0&mt=1

About a week or so after the CCA name change, I received a promotional travel piece (don't actually recall the company) with a big "&" on the cover. My initial thought "has the ampersand become the symbol of the 21st Century?"

Just a guess, but Abercrombie & Kent is headquartered in Chicago.

I received some A&K brochures recently and thought the same thing. What's up with the use of the & these days?

Since when was the Ampersand or the word 'and' trade marks?

This is silly for A&K to do this. Totally silly.

I actually just located that A&K promo piece and there it was... big &. Recall my initial though - someone was going to be suing someone... & sure enough!

Wouldn't A&K and &Beyond need each other? I'd think that in these tough economic times that folks would be limiting their expenditures, but I guess arguing over the ownership of & is not frivolous enough... Maybe they just have too much money and will not be letting any staff go in the next few months either...

tom -

you're funny! I too wondered whether A&F (even Bed, Bath & Beyond [BB&B]) might get caught in this mix, but as different business would stay out of it!

"to litigate or not to litigate" that is the question. guess with lawyers on retainers, gotta give them something to do.

even if there are so many bigger problems these days.

Sounds like a fight only someone deep into S&M would appreciate. Or perhaps someone deprived of M&Ms?
