There's still time to meet me at the airport and join in. Thanks for the sendoffs and I'll report back, especially on Akagera, Butare, Nyungwe, and Murchison Falls. The gorillas have been well covered and words don't do them justice anyway.

Wow, I can't believe how experienced you all are. I am traveling alone on business to Uganda. I have been raised on the coast all my life and might say very sheltered. What advice do you have for me (in terms of clothing, what to pack, do's and don'ts, should I wait to get my visa at the airport?, will I be safe? What shots will I need. I am leaving in 16 days. I am a little freaked! Can someone comment? Claire

Don't be freaked Claire!
Getting your visa at the airport is just fine. I prefer it to sending my passport off somewhere because there is a risk (though small) of losing it and it costs more.
You just stand in a different line that reads Visa and bring $50 when you enter. Those who don't need a visa stand in a line next to you. The visa line is usually a little slower, but not much.
If you are on a business trip, you'll be safe. I don't wonder around alone at night and I would suggest the same for you.
Shots--it is best to consult your doctor or international travel clinic. You'll probably want malaria protection in the form of a pill. I took a daily dose of Malarone. I actually saw only 8 mosquitoes in my whole time in Uganda and Rwanda.
As for clothing, are you only traveling for business? What to wear is very different in business meeting vs. gorilla tracking.
MyDogKyle,
I was hugging! But not the gorillas.
