I have a few minutes internet time. I'm exactly half-way between Luxor and Aswan, somewhere ties up to a river bank with the Nile lapping outside my panoramic windows - it's warm and very cool, simultaneously.
CC, Didn't see you previous billet-doux. the thread was pulled while I was in net-limbo. The moment is gone. Aswan for a night then Istanbul. Important you don't conclude I'm the normal beer-swilling Aussie. You'd be tremendously disappointed in the reality.
The sites are empty. Edfu, all 60 acres of it had about ten tourists, till a couple of groups came in. The motorized river boats still ply the Nile in convoy, but in the tens, not hundreds - and empty, it appears. I confess that looking at them from the deck of my dahabiya makes me feel verrry superior.
click. gone.
back in a day or so from Aswan.
Come to Egypt now. Sail down the Nile on a boat like this - don't fool yourseLf that that expensive motorised river cruise is superiour. It ain't.
Back to the breeze and the silence.
