<i>"taking some clothes, good condition shirts and pants and giving them away or just leave behind in room (or tent) for the cleaners."</i>
If you decide to leave items behind or for a specific room attendent, be sure to leave a note to this effect.
If not, the items might be cleaned and shipped to your home address (what a surprise when you find this package waiting at your front door
), or the individual might be thought to have stolen the item/s.

Sandi,
Good Advice. I always buy "30%off clothes" at Target, etc that I probably would not wear in the city no matter what country I am in that is not "sophisticated"..I cannot tell you how many times I've been stopped and told I forgot to pack my clothes!LOL
SO, after reading (maybe Lynda's packing report) I always have index cards on me to leave notes!
And, the staff really appreciates it...one of the ladies told me her daughter always wanted to wear the clothes the "Americans wear" when they visit" That meant the world to me.
The small things like that really do matter.

On my latest trip, I planned to give away all my footgear except for what I wore home. The day before I left, I decided to give the brand new canvas shoes to the woman who was gardening, since the maid was getting a bunch of other stuff. The morning I left, I was rolling my suitcase to the lobby (this was not a safari, and we did not need to use soft luggage, and we did not have porters carrying our bags so we needed wheels). I didn't realize, but the gardener was looking out for me, and ran over to grab my suitcase and help me. There was something so touching about it -- it's hard to explain. But she had figured out a practical way to say Thank You. So we did a lot of Asante/Karibu back and forth.
