It sounds nice to me! I would move CT and Vic Falls to before the safari part. I like to end on safari. I also prefer 3 nights per camp because of the stress I feel traveling, but again, that's just me.

IMO, too much, too short a time.

There is a lot of travelling in that itinerary.

You will lose a lot of time travelling from Vic Fall to CPT and probably be exhausted. Flight times alone are around 4 hours, this does not include transiting through JNB.

Also, 2 days will not do CPT justice.

If you are dead set on CPT, drop Botswana and safari in the private reserves next to Kruger. If you want to do Botswana, drop CPT and add a few more nights at Camp Moremi,Savute and Chobe.

2 nights is adequate to Camp O if you are not a keen walker and more interested in the big stuff.

(Though I have seen over 30 lions on one morning walk on mooje Island)

all good thoughts from lbj2. i would still need to know the time of year to provide better advice from my own perspective. for example - if traveling in july-october the whales will be off shore in hermanus allowing for a big-six safari experience (big five on land + whales). this type of experience may "tip" my suggestion in favor of more time in the western cape.

Going in Aug or Sept. Want to go to Botswana,CPT and Vic Falls. I could add 1-2 days CPT -- for the Botswana part -- which lodging would you eliminate.

given you limitations in time, i would drop camp okavango and chobe game lodge. i would add one night to camp moremi. camp moremi has a boat station with two boats so you can still go out on the delta. camp okavango is water activities only and with your limited time i would drop it in favor of other sites.

after savute safari lodge/ssl i would get dropped in kasane/bbk and transferred by road (2 hr) for one night at the Vic Falls Hotel. by keeping five nights with desert & delta/D&D you will still be eligible for the long stay discounted rates which apply to five night or longer visits.

tour the falls the afternoon of arrival and leave for cape town the next day. tour the winelands and hermanus as day trips from cape town to prevent too much moving around.

depending on rain, zambia side of the falls could be "bone dry" in september so go to zimbabwe side instead. plus you get a lot more luxury at the vf hotel vs zambezi sun. they are the same price.

I did a similar trip and I can tell you honestly, you are trying to do WAY too much in such a short time. Savute is a great camp, good choice. I'd aim for 2-3 nights in fewer places that offer different experiences. Three nights at Savute was not too much. I also stayed at Vumbura Plains, which was beyond anything I've ever experienced in terms of luxury, staffing, stay, gaming, eating.... I also stayed at the Royal Livingston which is walking distance to Zambezi Sun and you cannot compare the two at all. (At all!). You may be disappointed in the ZS. As for the falls, I was there in Sept-Oct and I had to cross the Zimbabwe border by foot to see the falls. Either way, RL, ZSun or VF hotel make sure you stay where the water is falling. Best of luck and enjoy!

I would drop Camp Okavango and Camp Moremi (unless you are in for walking or a mokoro experience). Instead I would opt for 3 nights in a private concession which normally produces good predator sightings like Chitabe (marketed by WS) (also you can go off-road and do night drives).

Skip Chobe game lodge, and stay maybe in Muchenje safari lodge (same safari experience and cheaper). Also it's located in a quieter area (less vehicles around). (spend 2 days there and definitely do one or two boat cruises)

With limited time Savute Safari lodge won't be on my list. Also it can be a bit of a circus (around predator sightings) during that time of year.

Personnally I think the itinerary involves a lot of travelling (too much in a short time for me) but if you are keen to do it all in one trip that would be my 5 days in Botswana if you want a lodge safari.

To visit Cape Town and surroundings, you'll need at least 4 days. If you are staying in Constantia and like good food, La Colombe (Constantia Uitsig) is worth to go to.

And don't forget to ask a quote with different operators as price differences between them can be considerable.

Cheers,

Johan
