WE checked it out, but honestly there really isn't much there. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Spier for much. The hotel room was great, but the service is really bad. The bird rehab is even more pathetic than the cheetah part. But that is JMO.

Thanks for the answer and I am impressed that you are dispensing info on Cape Town while recovering from jetlag in Rwanda.

You hear about the cheetah interaction and of course the wine, but not too much about the birds. I think most are raptors being rehabilitated. That's a worthy project.

I only remember seeing an owl in a cage as we walked into the entrance of the cheetah center (Nov 05)so not too sure if it was at a different location or not. I was way too excited to see the cheetahs at that moment.

Had to look back at my photos. I thought this was an owl, but maybe not. Anyone?

It is an owl. I would venture to guess Spotted Eagle Owl but will defer to our ornithological experts.

One looks yellow and one orange!
So I guess we're saying Spotted Eagle Owl.

Yes. There are other identifying features too but eye-color is the easiest.
