Here's another website with Israel museum listings and an email subscription you can sign up for with announcements of special exhibits. The information is a bit sparse but it will give you ideas for other museums to look into. www.ilmuseums.com

I was just in Israel Dec. 22-January 3, on a tour. I think Jerusalem is a better choice to stay. We stayed at the Dan Panorama the first part of our trip and at the Mt. Zion when we returned for the last part of our trip (we stayed in Tiberias and Dead Sea in between for 6 days).

One must see in Jerusalem is Yad Vashem and the Children's Memorial. It is extremely moving. Our group went to a wonderful place called Yad LaKashish. The website is:

http://www.lifeline.org.il/lifeline/?

Read about it. It's a wonderful place to visit and to shop their wares!

In the old city, when you are shopping, make sure you go to Shorashim, on Huerta Square. I found out about it from a Tour Guide I made friends with on another BB-Suzanne Pomeranz. She is a wonderful person, and I am sure a friend from now on.

Hope that helps! Have a great time! You will love Israel. If you are Jewish, it will certainly feel like you are home!

Here a couple of other ones I have found:

http://coupons.goisraelshop.com (from the Israel tourist ministry website discount coupons for 2006 including some 2 for one or discount museum admissions, free 1 day Hertz car rental (with a week's rental) and others)

http://www.dinnersite.co.il/israel.htm (restaurant listings and links and photos of some)

Laurie Ann, When are you going to stay in Avissar House? We booked for end of May & am eager to hear your experiences if you are going to be there before we go.

Another website good for events and special exhibits information (although only for the current week) is the on line version of a weekly magazine http://www.helloisrael.net/. It also has sightseeing, dining and entertainment information.
