April or May to Tangier/Fes/Essaouira?
Trying to pick the best 2-week span to travel to Morocco in 2026. We've never been before. We want to see wildflowers when we hike in the Atlas but also be able to enjoy the coast (if not actually swim). I know this is a very micro question. We'd been originally planning April 8–22, but now I'm thinking maybe that's a bit too early? What do you all think? Thanks!!

Have you consulted weatherspark.com? Obviously, prediction is not possible (especially not these days), but the climate information might provide useful to you.

Which part of the Atlas:
Todra Valley, Dades Valley, Paradise Valley loop, Toubkal, Ouzoud Goprges......?
We were in the Dades Valley in April and hiking weather was perfect.
Tanger is probably the less interesting city in Morocco. If you want to go in this area, go at least to Tetouan.
Rabat is probably the most interesting city along the coast.

For the Atlas Mountains wildflowers, late April through mid-May is when they're at their best. I hiked near Imlil around April 25th and the hillsides were covered with all kinds of colorful flowers - it was stunning!
For the coastal areas:
- Essaouira gets pretty windy (they call it the "Wind City of Africa" for a reason), but late April/early May has decent weather - expect around 70°F during the day.
- The water is definitely still cold in April (I tried swimming and lasted about 2 minutes lol). By mid-May it's a bit better but still brisk.
- Tangier's beaches will be slightly warmer than Essaouira both for air and water temps.
Your April 8-22 timeframe isn't bad, but if you can push it back a couple weeks to something like April 22-May 6, you'd hit that sweet spot for both the wildflowers and slightly more pleasant coastal weather.
Another bonus of the later timeframe is that you'll be well after Ramadan in 2026 (which ends around April 5), when everything runs more normally with regular restaurant hours and services.
Hope this helps! Morocco in spring is magical - you're going to have an amazing trip!

Late April to early May would be perfect for what you're looking for! I was in Morocco last spring and the timing makes a big difference.

We just got back from Morocco. We were in Fes from April 23 - 25, Essaouria from April 25 - 28, and Imlil from April 28 - May 1. We did not make it to Tangier. I would say that the weather was pleasant the whole time.
In Fes, it was fairly hot and inundated with tourists. We're not shoppers, so we were glad to get out of there. We intended to see the synagogues there, but all but one were closed.
In Essauoria, the beach was windy. We had a taxi driver drop us off in the village of Diabat, and we walked back along the beach. There were many wind surfers. The main beach has a bunch of camels parked there (no kidding), so you can imagine the "camel waste" present on the beach. The area did not look inviting for swimming. If you are going to be in Essauoria on a Sunday, have a driver take you to the Had Draa market, where lifestock is sold. It was an amazing experience--be there at sunrise.
We did two day hikes in Imlil, and the weather was nice. We saw goats and sheep, which was fun. I don't remember many flowers. I imagine it will get more hot and crowded as time goes on.
Try and go to Meknes, Azemmour, and El Jadida. We liked those better than the Imperial cities. Morocco is very touristed, so it helps to get off the beaten path.

From my own experience traveling in Morocco 2 times , I’d say you’re on the right track thinking about April. I went in mid-April, and it was honestly perfect.
If you’re after flowers and hiking comfort, early to mid-April works really well. If you push later into late April or early May, the coast will start warming up more, but the valleys in the Atlas can also start getting hotter. Personally, I’d stick with your April 8–22 plan it’s a sweet spot for both scenery and weather.
