Kavey and everybody else,
Sorry I know I said I would post no more on this subject, but I have just discovered this on another photographic site, I think it sums up what I have been trying to say far better than I have:
"I am all for equipment and the maximum use thereof, but I tend to agree with you that there should be a limit.
In these type of competitions digital manipulation is not allowed. In other words, I cannot clone out a hair that obscure a lions eye, but can set multiple cameras, covering all angles, triggered by IR and run at 8fps till the buffers are full, all while I'm not even there.
Somewhere we must have lost the plot"
In answer to Kaveys question yes it should be a seperate category. This is supposed to be Wikldlife Photographer not Wildlife Photograph!

Thanks for responding, Ken.
That's an interesting point.
It's a difficult one because, I think for me, in the end, it comes down to the result, the photograph produced, however the photographer has achieved it in terms of equipment and so on.
Of course, as you say, there's no digital manipulation permitted. I think I've always taken that to be about ensuring that the actual image presented is what occurred in nature, and accurately represents what was seen. You know, rather than cloning out fences or, as you say, the grass obscuring the lion's eye!
Personally, I have tonnes of shots where I have that kind of problem, but that's down to me! I just didn't position myself (in some case wasn't able to) in a way to get the better image without that grass or fence or whatever it might be.
Just an excuse for another trip to AFrica!

Could all of you that support the selection of the overall winning image please let me know if you belive that it complied with rules of the competition in particular this
"Adjusting your image Digital adjustments are only acceptable if limited to minor cleaning work, levels, curves, colour, saturation and contrast work. The faithful representation of what you saw at the time of the shot being taken must be maintained.
Compositing and multiple exposures are not allowed. Sharpening is allowed (but use sparingly – many images are ruined by over-sharpening). Cropping is allowed, but please be mindful of the effect of cropping on file size."
I think that the key words here are "what you saw at the time the shot of the shot being taken".

You two really are unbelievable, this has all been said allready on this thread, mostly by you, and dealt with.
Of course if you could read what I have just posted and understand the words within it you might be able to see that this has got nothing to do with Andy's image, but the images of the overall winner, but why should I expect anything else.

Actually have seen the photos in this month's BBC Wildlife magazine I have to say I'm more underwhelmed by the leopard pictures than viewing them on the internet. Nothing I've not seen before to be honest.
Andy's looked good in print though.
