Has anyone used Amex partners to fly from JFK into Joburg, spend two weeks, fly to Cape Town..visit for five days and then return to JFK. I could handle a night in Europe if necessary. I have been told that SAA is no longer a partner.

Hi! Actually, I think SAA is still a partner (at least they are on the Membership Rewards website!). Delta is another option but you would need to go to Atlanta. I think Virgin would also work though you would need to connect in London.

I was looking into Amex's SAA reward. trips can be booked through 12/31/07, 80,000 miles for a free economy ticket. The agent I spoke to said they had not yet renewed the contract for 2008 but to call closer to the end of the year to see if it was extended.

Delta also has just announced direct flights from next June as well from what they are advertising here in NYC.

I did it last year, I believe through Air France, with a full day layover in Paris.

I just got business class thru Delta going into Joburg and flying out of Capetown. Thank you all for your info
