Malaria medication - what if I skip a day (or two)?
I'm taking malaria medication (doxycycline) and am about midway. My luggage did not make it home with me (we had an extremely tight connection in Johannesburg) and the medication is in it - so I missed taking it yesterday. Hopefully, my luggage will make it to me today. My question - does it matter if I miss a day? Should I take two capsules today? Anyone know? (I don't think I got any mosquito bites anyway, but I'm not sure - they don't show up on me as red marks.)
Thanks,
Karen

What do I do for a missed dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose and you take just one dose a day, take the missed dose and take the next one 10 to 12 hours later. If you take 2 doses a day, take the missed one and then take the next one 5 to 6 hours after the missed dose. If you are taking 3 doses a day, take the missed one and then take the next one 2 to 4 hours after the missed dose and then return to your regular schedule.

Thanks, everyone! If my luggage doesn't come today, I can "borrow" a couple capsules from a colleague who I think had hers in her carry-on and then pay her back when mine arrives. If it doesn't arrive, I'll be able to get some more on Monday.
