I know it's been years since I last posted in here about my trip...okay, maybe not years but it sure feels like it. Anyway, I've finally finished my trip report and the book is scheduled to come out in August. Thanks to all of you who gave advice for my trip. It was all helpful and the trip was AMAZING.

is anyone planning a trip to Tanzania? I would highly recomend going on safari in Tanzania, in fact, I would return in a heart beat! The people were great, the places were amazing, the animals didn't disappoint...I could gush all day. But I'd love to hear from you too.

Hi, yep, going on our first ever safari in October. We decided on Tanzania. Cannot wait.

Hi! I notice you went to Ruaha. How did you like it? and the game viewing there in terms of predators?

Hari and I want to know about cheetahs and other animals in Ruaha. You mentioned staying longer, maybe 2-3 weeks in your "what to do differently comments." If you had stayed 2-3 weeks, I bet you still would have suggested staying longer. Maybe 4-5 weeks. Nine safari days is great, though.

Feistybrit: October is a great time to visit Tanzania. You will not be disappointed. Where are you going?

Hari and atravelynn: Ruaha was great for many reasons. Because of it's southern location and low number of rooms(though I hear this may be changing), we rarely saw another truck, and when we did, it was the other truck from our camp! You really have the feeling of being alone and on your own safari. The terrain was also completely different than Selous---it was drier, etc); it was great to experience two different landscapes as it made you feel like you were in two different "worlds." Predators were everywhere---lions walked thru Jongomero while we were there. There are more than 20 lions in the park, of which we saw three males and a few females. There are also cheetahs, leopards, jackals, hyenas, and a few packs of wild dogs, though they are difficult to find. I have found that travlers tend to visit the northern part of Tanzania and ignore the southern out of habit, but by heading south you will encounter less people and just as great an experience.

Hi, thanks for the reply. We are going basically to Tarangire, Ngorongo and the Serengeti, Private drive and fly.
We will actually be there in November as we don't arrive till the end of October.
Is that still a good time.
