Air Botswana
Hi! I cant get the air bots website to open this morning...
Anyone know what time of the day they fly from Cape Town to Maun? and is it a daily direct service?
Also, last week my Travel agent mentioned that there are two direct flights in the morning JNB to Maun....one at 9am and another the 10 am (which i usually fly)....anyone fly the earlier flight?
Thanks
Hari

Hi Hari,
Air Botswana only flies twice a week from Cape Town to Maun (Friday and Sunday). It departs at 1400hrs and arrives at 1630hrs.
As I recall the 9am flight doesn't operate everyday, so you'd need to see whether it was available on the day you want to fly.
Cheers,
Julian

Hi Hari,
The timing is the main reason I've never done the CPT-MUB flight. In a worst-case scenario, you might end up with an overnight in Maun...
I haven't flown with Air Bots since they introduced the 9am flight, but generally speaking I find a 45-minute delay with them is par for the course. I talked to a senior manager at BA tonight at an ATTA about getting Comair to move into this market and give Air Bots some badly needed competition.
Cheers,
Julian

Hari,
Our last trip, the two Air Bots flights to Maun from Johannesburg were later than the present schedule. We took the then earlier flight, a 1000 departure...but there was a problem with the BAe 146 and we had to be transferred to an F-28. Despite the delay, we still got to Selinda in time for the afternoon game drive. That trip was our worst for Air Bots delays, coming and going. I've heard so little since that I assume things have improved a bit. Has the airline been privatised yet, and if so, has Government policy changed to allow it to have competition?

Julian: hopefully, Comair gets into the market.
John: No, they havent improved. Infact, in August they mysteriously bumped me into an earlier flight from Maun back to Joburg forcing me to cut short my morning final drive at Little Kwara. Last trip on my flight JNB-Maun both flights left more or less 5 minutes of each other (about a 20 minute delay for me) but no worries....well in time for my first drive at Lagoon, i think.....
