Accommodation in Nairobi

Hi..... I will be making my first trip to Kenya in 2 weeks time, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel for a stopover for the airport ( NBO) that is nice and doesn't entail me travelling through the centre of Nairobi .... or am I being too cautious in worrying about this! Any info would be helpful as i don't know Nairobi at all.
Cheers

The Panari Hotel is 10/min outside the airport. However, The Fairview in downtown Nairobi is lovely, good price, right across the street from the Israeli Embassy, which can be considered, either, the safest or most dangerous hotel in town. Most feel it's the former.

The Fairview also has a sister property onsite called the Country Lodge...less expensive, but still within the same compound.

I stayed recently at House of Waine. It was quite nice. 30 mins from the international airport - unless it is rush hour. It is 20 minutes from Wilson Airport.

I booked at the Country Lodge - very easy with email though they want a credit card.

The will arrange a taxi to pick you up at the airport ($19) if you like.

I think Panari is absolutely pefect for you.Even if you are going on from Wilson airport you can avoid the center and the horrible traffic.Don`t
terrify, when the taxi driver is passing the hotel- he has to go much more than 1 kilometer to a turning point to go back to the hotel.
in the same building there is the "Pampa" restaurant, if you are hungry. It is really nice and is working the same way as the Carnivore, but with steaks, not with game.

Fare from airport to town shouldn't be more than 1200ksh.
Seriously, book someone ahead and get a price. I suggest Kaparo +254722345370.

As far as I know Panari still do the occassional Ostrich, Crocodile and the like. The coffee house there does good food too... a mean chicken salad. Or there's a dodgy food court.

Panari is a good choice but expect it's pricey. And not the nicest situation.
Fairview better.
