Thank you Bedar! I'm going to go and check it out. I LOVED Fes. One of the highlights of my trip last spring. And the beautiful rug I bought in the old medina is a constant reminder of this fascinating city!

The highlight of my 5 day stay in Fez (and Fez was the highlight) was this tour.

http://www.plan-it-fez.com/souk-tasting-trails/ It was very well organized and we had a lovely guide. It is an amazing food tour and what people watching.

I can't seem to see the original post. But Fes was absolutely wonderful! Just be really sure that you are staying near the souk -- near the Blue Gate probably. My second time I made the mistake of staying in a hotel that CLAIMED to be near the tanneries and so forth, when in fact it was in the middle of NOWHERE (Anebar) which meant that every trip for anything was a hike uphill (literally) one way or another.

I wish I had known of that tastes tour -- sounds great.

If you go for a rug, and I suggest you do, even if a tiny one, even the places that say that they are fixed prices are not. You just have to take a more subtle approach.

I also recommend that you take a taxi (very cheap here) around the perimeter of the city to really get a breathtaking feel/view for the way it is laid out and there is at least one site outside the city to see. BUt don't stop at the pottery place, the prices are too high. The souk really is where real people buy their things -- they just get better prices lol.

Enjoy!
