Nothing like a rock fall or other underground problem, seems to be simply a failure that affected the hoist lift. So they're being brought out using what is usually a goods lift.

From what I remember hearing from a radio news report this morning, that takes I think only 75 at a time and a long time to surface, so it's slow work. Latest count from online news reports is 750 have surfaced. And they estimate that it will take until about 4 pm today local time to get all of them out, which is still another six and a half hours.

Over 2000 have been recrued and 1800 yet to go. There is little worry that almost all of the remaining to be recued will come out with limited injuries. It is the cold teps up to 104 degrees F and very cramped space that are the hurdles the yet too be rescued are dealing with.

I need ro correct my comment. 104 degrees is hot NOT cold.
Also about 40 miners required hospitalization but none reported critical. A fortunate ending. But what safety issues were lacking????
