Hi
I will travel to Jordan next september
You can have a look on this very interesting website : http://www.jordanjubilee.com/visitjor/itinries.htm
The Mariam hotel can organise excursion to Jerash and Petra . i think I will ask them to organise my tours
3 days for Jerash and Petra ...it seems a little short to visit both

We did Jerash and Petra in 2/days. It's doable - 1/full day Petra and half-day Jerash, then Amman before heading to the airport. Another day in Petra would have been nice, but we managed to get a deal through Royal Jordanian Airlines as a stopover on way to Egypt.
I'm sure if you check the website listed above they can arrange the visit for you. You'll just have to get to Jordan/Amman or for the tour operator to meet you after crossing into Jordan.

You can do Jerash in one morning. Petra is well worth to stay at the Movenpik Wadi Musa, rigth by the entrance. I remember there was another hotel right above named Petra Moon (see review at www.virtualtourist.com) with much lower budget. The important thing is the proximity to the entrance; but you can always get there by taxi from your hotel.
We got up, had breakfast and had a lunch box prepared, and spent all day long in Petra. It is a lot of trekking, and we exited by 5,30-600PM, but went a second day. My suggestion: Go to Jerash early, and then head Petra to spend the night.
