2 day for Morocco - where to go??

We are traveling to Spain and would like to spend a couple of days in Morocco. We are considering taking the ferry and travelling southward. Then we would have to fly from Casablanca to Madrid for our flight home. Would really like to see Marrakesh, even if it is the only city we could spend any time. Is this realistic?? What is the best mode of transportation once we are there? Will be 5 of us. Thanks
The ferry takes you Tangier, which is not the best example of Morocco. Leave it ASAP and take the train to Marrakesh. You can also rent a car and drive.

With just two days, why not r/t flight to Marrakesh? Hire a guide through the tourist office or the hotel (these are licensed guides, and have to pass tests on history, culture, etc. to get the license) and s/he will take you to all the sights and give you all the information about them. They also keep the touts at bay. You can do it on your own, but there's so much to see and know that you won't get as much as you would with a guide.

You can also see a different Morocco if you visit Fez, then Volubilis (Roman city that you can explore to your heart's content), and if time, Chefchouen which is a small village in the mountains. With its white buildings and blue doors, it reminds one of the Greek Islands.

Morocco is fascinating. We spent two weeks exploring the country, and only got a taste for more!

We drank bottled water just to be on the safe side; Coke, wine and beer are readily available in most restaurants and hotels. When photographing people, ask permission - the human image is against the Moslem religion, so many people don't want their pictures taken. As three women traveling alone, we felt perfectly safe; we did stick to fairly conservative clothing (knee-length skirts and shorts, long pants and tops with sleeves), not only out of respect but because desert sun can be brutal. Wear a hat and sunscreen - no point in flying home with a sunburn!
