Austin rentals - please weigh in!
I am attending a conference in Austin in a few weeks - and who I am attending with is thinking of renting a house/condo for the conference instead of a hotel room - wanted to see if there were any thoughts on these rentals:

4 bedroom condo 1 block from convention center listed at $249 a night
http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p272555
3 bedroom walking distance to down town $300-$360 a night
http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p336229
2 bedrooms sleeps 6 $500 a night
The conference is at the convention center.
Thanks in advance!

How many people are attending? The first one is right on Sixth Street (think Austin's version of Bourbon Street). The second one is in a great neighborhood (Clarksville) but very close to Mopac (Hwy 1). I love Clarksville but would prefer to be closer to the Lamar/Fifth St. area. Also, only ONE bathroom. The last one is nice but very close to I-35.

With four women I would definitely not choose a one bathroom. Does it have to be right downtown? The Travis Heights area is really cool and within walking distance to SoCo, which is the South Congress area. Great shops and restaurants all around. Here's one I found on vrbo. Everyone could have their own room.

About a mile and a half. You will go down South Congress, cross the lake and take a right on 1st. There are buses that run down Congress on a regular basis. Personally, I could easily walk it in about 30 minutes or less.

I like both that Austin traveler suggests. You would probably need a ride to the convention center if you arent walkers and at night.
The ones u showed - 1st and 3rd closer but personally too close to 6th street for me. Clarksville very cool but also a ride needed.
All are probaly a mile or so away? Clarskville farther. I think u can find much more. Also the $500 I got the impression it's only durin ACL, SXSW and UT games. Hence the overpriced rent.
