B&B or Budget Hotel in Athens
Looking for a basic (but clean and of course safe) and inexpensive hotel or B&B in Athens for 3 nights in May. We will not have a car. Planning on exploring Athens for 1.5 days and then doing a daytrip by bus to see Delphi on our second full day before flying to Santorini.
Currently looking at the Kimon Hotel. Is that in a convenient location?

Kimon Hotel's location is very good. In that same general neighborhood take a look at Metropolis Hotel, Amazon Hotel, Plaka Hotel, Attalos Hotel, Athos Hotel, Hermes Hotel, Central Hotel, Attalos Hotel and Pella Inn.

The location of the Kimon Hotel is excellent, as it is located near Syntagma Square, close to the metro and most sites of interest.
The hotel has an unbeatable price for it's location, just keep in mind that this is a tiny hotel, with very few rooms, that vary in size. If you are OK with a simple hotel ( no lift, no room service, very basic breakfast) at a low price, then go ahead and book it.
Other hotels in same area are : Plaka Hotel, Arethousa, Astor,
Achileas, Athens Cypria - at higher rates though.
An alternative to the Syntagma area is either Monastirali
( Attalos Hotel, A for Athens) or the Acropolis ( Philippos or Parthenon Hotel, the Athens Gate is a very good one too)

Sometimes the Herodion Hotel has good deals on their website in the off season. It's a lovely, very comfortable hotel very close to the new Acropolis Museum (world class museum - don't miss it!).
The Adrian Hotel in the Plaka is getting rather tired, but they also have off season deals on their website sometimes and their breakfast is good and quite memorable from the rooftop garden.
May isn't off season... but if you are speaking of early May, you might still find a few discounts

Last year we stayed at Tony's Hotel at Sygrou Fix, a quieter area that is a 10 mins walk from the Parthenon: http://www.hoteltony.gr/
I think we paid €70 a night and would definitely recommend it!

Some good recommendations already, add the Carolina, Myrto & Acropolis Select to the list too.
I travel on a limited budget & have stayed in 15 central hotels, most are reviewed here,

I would stay in any of them again, the decision usually rests on which comes up as the best bargain when I'm booking! I try their own sites, Venere.com, booking.com etc.
