Rome Hotel
Hello everyone, Ill be coming off a cruise in Rome and have added 2 nights post cruise.
Haven't had a chance to look into hotels or neighborhoods yet.
I know I would like to be in a hotel that is close to the famous fountain and Spanish steps city center area. Not Suburbs. something with indoor pool would be great (I have PT to do).
4 stars or more...
any suggestions would really be appreciated.
thank you so much
PS
@Thursdaysd - the hotel area you suggested in Paris was perfection, very close to everything..... any suggestions for Rome?

I think the very closest you can come to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain would be the Westin Excelsior or the Palace Garden. These two are listed as having indoor pools. This neighborhood is the Via Veneto.
Personally, I would forego the pool for a better location but tons of people do go to Rome and stay in these hotels.
You can get some other good neighborhood recommendations if you aren't committed to the indoor pool.

With only 2 nights to explore Rome, I'd give up pool for location. My favorite hotel is Albergo Del Senato, on the rotunda next to The Pantheon. It's an ideal location for exploring Rome ( 10-15 min walk to Trevi about 20 min to Spanish Steps) and next to an all important gelateria!

The area around the Trevi Fountain is gross.
I would look for something around the Via Giulia. You can walk to the Spanish Steps, shopping (Profumo Santa Maria Novella), Trastevere, and the Vatican.
The best hotel in Rome is the de Russie.
The St Regis Grand is undergoing remodeling.
I just got back from Rome, but stayed at Villa San Pio in Testaccio.

I rarely agree with Thin (lol) but the de Russie is beautiful - the most stunning interior courtyard and garden. So peaceful. And I have stayed at the Hotel Indigo on Via Giulia and it is also very nice. Beautiful outdoor terrace for breakfast and amazing rooftop lounge and restaurant in the evening with views of St Paul’s. It is an IHG property (Indigo) but while we stayed there the restaurant and terrace was filled mostly with locals. No pool though.

In addition to Rocco Forte Hotel de Russie, there's also Hotel Eden, part of the Dorchester Collection and newly renovated. Thoroughly five-star, but if you book through Diamond Club, you'll receive a guaranteed upgrade, full breakfast daily, and a one-time 100€ credit toward your hotel bill.
