Is it a hassle to change trains in Naples?
Hi everyone.
I can take a direct train, no changes, from Salerno to Florence, but it won't get me into Florence until 4:36 pm. I can take an earlier train that will get me there around 3:20, possibly giving me a bit of the day to see a sight or two, but that means changing trains in Napoli Centrale. I'm on the fence about this one.
I only have a little time in Florence, at the end of my trip, though I have been there several times before (it's been a while, though).
Is it a real hassle to switch trains in Naples? Or is it easy, low-stress? I've never been to that station before. This will be in July and I'll have 15 minutes between trains.
I am very fit but very lazy and easily confused.
I'd appreciate any advice, opinions, scoldings. Many thanks!

There is also 9:14 ES9524 not requiring change. Are you not interested in taking that instead?
Changing between Trenitalia trains is not much more involved at Napoli Centrale than doing it in Firenze S.M.N., Milano Centrale, or Roma Termini.
Napoli train change of other kind is little more involved. This is what others might mention as hassle. Your route has nothing to do with this Circumvesuviana to Trenitalia train change.
If you are not familiar with changing Trenitalia trains, you should rephrase the question as such.

You only gain an hour in Florence if you change trains. Is it worth the potential hassle of not only changing trains but having just 15 minutes between trains??
For me, it wouldn't be worth the change of trains. YMMV.

greg, thanks! No, not interested in taking an earlier train. I will be with friends and we want to have a relaxing morning. They then head off to Rome and I will be on my way to Florence. Have changed trains on Trenitalia but never been in Napoli Centrale so have no idea about distances, up/down staircases, etc.
Deb, thank you, that's what I'm weighing: hassle vs. gain. When you put it that way ("only gaining an hour") it does seem silly. This will be at the end of a three-week trip, and I may be running out of steam by then.
