Indi/Nepal Tour

We are considering a 17 day India Nepal Package with World Spree. Has anyone else used World Spree? Does anyone have any suggestions for other India Tours?

We just booked an 18 day trip with Gate 1 Traveled with them to Peru last summer and it was great. Others on tour recommended their India tour with Nepal so we just booked it for December. We did our own airfare and it was really reasonable.

I did India (twice) and Nepal on my own (click on my name for the TR.) If I were going to do a tour to these countries neither World Spree nor Gate1 would be my first choice. And I would be more inclined - especially if there were more than one of me - to arrange a private tour with a car and driver instead of a group tour. I would probably start with a quote from Castle and King, although there are other in-country agents that Fodorites have recommended. Note that any agency is likely to start with an itinerary that is far too ambitious.

Do you want to do the same old, same old that everyone does without any input on your own as to what appeals to you? If so, then do a tour. If you want a personalized trip (and there is more than one person) arrange your own itineraries with a car and driver.

We just returned from India (our third trip) and had several conversations with Indians who run guesthouses and small hotels. They can't understand why anyone would pay the extra money for an agency to arrange things for them. I agree.

We have arranged three trips to India and one trip to Nepal all on our own.
