Hot Chocolate in Paris
I went to Angelina's years ago and enjoyed the experience, from the unbelievably decadent hot chocolate to the pretty surroundings. I'd like to take my son there, but we're in Paris on a weekend, and we won't want to wait in line for cocoa.
Are some hours better than others for avoiding a crowd at Angelina's? Where else would you go for that really special chocolat chaud?

La Galerie at the Hotel Geroge V has the best hot chocolate in Paris. Go during tea service from 3pm to 6pm. La Galerie makes Angelina look like a truck stop.

I think I'd prefer the chocolate to be brusque and the waitresses to be cloying.

So what can Angelina's add to natural chocolate to make it so so good?
chocolate is chocolate and it can only be heated in certain ways - now decor and reputation and the power of suggestion can be strong but chocolate - good chocolate ain't that how to make - hot chocolate we're talking about

(And having started this thread, I have to confess: we didn't go into Angelina. It was HEAVING with hopeful hot chocolate-drinkers. My son was very happy to skip the line for ... chocolate ice cream from Amorino. What can I say? I will note down all other suggestions for future trips.)

I was in Angelina's in 2012. It was an enchanting cup of hot chocolate. I was sitting next to a young student from Korea who told me it was her last day in Paris. She was blushing because she was ordering three huge pastries and a cup of hot chocolate. She explained that this was her farewell to Paris.
I don't have a sweet tooth but ice cream at Amorino at midnight for 4 nights in a row seemed to make me very happy!
Loved this thread.
